Brief on how the book proceeds .. brief ..

Even though I was born in Guntur, AP and did my nursery schooling in Chennai, about 44 years back, rest of my education has been in Kerala. Being the fourth member of a medium sized family from central Travancore, Kerala and both  my parents being well educated and father employed in the State Bank of India, I was fortunate enough to get the best of education.

Starting from St. Teresa's school, Shoranur, St Pauls Kuriachira, Trichur, Don Bosco Irinjalakuda and Rajagiri Kalamassery, Ernakulam, I have many friends scattered all over Kerala.

In Kerala Catholic faith, Easaw or eeshaw, to be more precise, is how Jesus is referred to. but among Syrrian Christians from one of the oldest Christian settlements in Kerala, Chengannur, Easaw or Easow, is a common name, probably referring to the Biblical Isau of the Old Testament.. In fact, the name Easaw is so peculiar of Chengannur and Kozhenchery in Central Travancore, you can trace all the Easaws. Easows or Esows to either of these places. Also it was a novelty for young friends to jokingly tease us as Easaw, Mariam, Ousephe or Easaw Mashihaiku Sthuthiyaayirikatte. Being gifted in studies and singing, we enjoyed all those days and friends..

And to be very frank, we enjoyed the special attention too !!

Now looking back, the nostalgia is overwhelming .. Hence the book !!

Longing for one's roots - a book by Dr George Easaw

I am a Malayali in all sense of the word ( from the tiny Indian state at the Southern tip of the Indian sub continent) ..  And I am very proud of it.

This blog is a prelude to the book to be released of the experiences, frustrations of a Malayali, non-resident , but pining to be back, if only it made some drastic changes. These changes, explanations, frustrations and preparations are what is explained in this book of mine. Some articles are specifically referring to the tiny state of Kerala , in the Southern tip of India, God's own land, which has not been affected by natural calamities for thousands of years and which has been time and again washed by the monsoon and the winds from the Arabian sea.

The book titled "Longing for one's roots" is equally applicable to audiences across the world.

Even if you are not a Malayali, you will enjoy reading how the Malayali mind works, how broad or narrow it is ! You can get to know the Mallu psyche much better by reading this book. Why Malayalis are so enterprising outside Kerala and so lazy and inward looking within Kerala. What were the chronologically important events in Kerala history which have had a bearing on the Malayali psyche ?

Please look around for the earliest release of this book at the stands all over India and the world ..
